Hull City eye double swoop for Doncaster Rovers and Wigan Athletic duo

Hull City are keen on Doncaster Rovers’ Ben Whiteman and Wigan Athletic’s Leonardo Lopes.

The Tigers are drawing up contingency plans for the expected departure of Markus Henriksen, according to a report by Hull Live.

Grant McCann’s side are expected to tie up a deal for Sunderland’s George Honeyman, who is believed to have had a medical in East Yorkshire yesterday ahead of a proposed £400,000 move.

Hull have so far managed to bring in the likes of Matt Ingram, Ryan Tafazolli, Josh Bowler, Sean McLoughlin and Tom Eaves but are not finished in the transfer window just yet.

Whiteman, who is 23 years-old, was part of McCann’s Donny side who got into the League One Play-Offs last season.

The former Sheffield United man made 50 appearances in all competitions in the last campaign and is highly-rated by the Yorkshire side.

Lopes is another player on the Tigers’ radar. McCann managed the 20-year-old at Peterborough United. The Portuguese midfielder joined Wigan Athletic from the Posh last summer for a fee of around £1.5 million but struggled to break into the Latics’ first team last season.

He spent the second-half of the last campaign on loan at Gillingham in League One and is an option for Hull as they look as alternatives to Henriksen.

Losing Henriksen will be a blow for the Tigers, however, they need players willing to the cause.
