Stoke City to beat Leeds United and West Brom to sign Tottenham Hotspur man

Stoke City are set to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Cameron Carter-Vickers on loan.

The Potters have seen off plenty of other interest from fellow Championship sides for the 21-year-old, according to journalist Graeme Bailey on Twitter.

Carter-Vickers, who is a USA international with eight caps to his name so far in his career, is being allowed to leave Spurs on loan again for more first team experience.

He was heavily linked with a loan move to Leeds United last night but Stoke have jumped in ahead of Marcelo Bielsa’s side today and are expected to tie up a deal for him before the 5pm transfer deadline. West Brom have also been linked with him.

Carter-Vickers joined the Tottenham academy at the age of 11 and rose up through their youth ranks. He made his senior debut for the London side in September 2016 in a League Cup tie against Gillingham.

The defender got his first taste of regular football on loan at Sheffield United during the first half of the 2017/18 season. He then finished that year with Ipswich Town.

Carter-Vickers then spent the last campaign in Wales with Swansea City and made 33 appearances in all competitions for the Swans.

Stoke looks to be his next destination and the Potters seem to have found their replacement for the injured Ryan Shawcross.
