Paul Lambert hails Ipswich Town’s “incredible” away support

Paul Lambert has praised the Ipswich Town fans after his sides’ 1-0 away win at MK Dons last night.

Jon Nolan’s 12th minute strike was enough for the Tractor Boys to return to Portman Road with all three points.

Ipswich remain unbeaten in League One and have moved up to 2nd in the league after five wins from eight games. They are a point behind top of the league Coventry City.

Lambert believes his side could have scored more goals to make the second-half more comfortable for his side but was ultimately pleased with another victory.

He spoke to their official club website after the match: “We started really well and should have been more than a goal up. It was a well-worked goal and well taken. He’s got a goal in him, Nolo (Jon Nolan). The second-half we weren’t as good with the ball as the first but we defended really well.”

“I felt that was James Wilson’s best game for us. He has done great because he didn’t have a pre-season. We changed it up a bit and took a bit of a risk with Garbutt, Nolan and Huws because of their fitness levels but they all did great and it was a big three points for us.”

He added: “And what about that support again. It was incredible.”

Ipswich will be looking to carry on their impressive start to life in the third tier this weekend when they on the road again at Gillingham.
